Why a quad
Letters are stickers. Contours are rivers.
People walk in holding a grind they liked across the river: C, S, "whatever the shop in Portland traced." Clark silt does not file Portland letters. It files whether the leading contour enters Esther Short dew, and whether the trailing contour leaves Fruit Valley grain.
Rudi Paek will not average a fat leading line with a shy trailing line as a courtesy. If the sand wants a meander and the 56 wants a straight exit, those are two quads, not a blended legend.

Quads people actually kept
My "C grind" was a fat leading contour with nowhere to leave. Tova thinned the entry. Esther Short stopped holding the face for a hearing.
I tried to draw dew hours and east-wind hours on one neatline. Quillan handed me two sheets. I paid for the second sand. The river was right.
